About Jacksons Double J

Building Brangus cattle that can hang in the ring and on the rail

Jacksons Double J is a sustainable ranch, built on regenerative agricultural practices that are meant to protect the land that we have been blessed to own and lease. We are at the headwaters of Flint Creek and we understand the impact we have on the viability of that waterway. We have a diverse grassland that includes fescue, bermuda, crabgrass and ryegrass. We also manage one of the few wetland areas in Benton County. It is home to many unique plant and animal species.

The Jackson side of the family moved from Tennessee to Benton County Arkansas in 1865. Our family has deep roots in agriculture and settled onto the current operation headquarters in 1980. We have raised our family to be involved in 4H and FFA for generations. Our children currently exhibit and judge cattle at shows all over the United States.

We take pride in our
Quality Beef

Our elite bulls are sold at GENEPLUS. Our elite females are kept as replacements. The rest of our calf crop enters the beef program. The beef steers and heifers enter the grow-out phase at around 700 pounds. They are raised on our pastures and receive spring water, Purina mineral, salt and are offered 25 pounds of Purina Impact Grower (87.5 percent cracked corn) daily. These cattle are vaccinated, dewormed and cared for to ensure the highest quality beef available. We do not implant our cattle due to studies showing that it reduces marbling. Antibiotics are rarely used and only as a last resort. We must be consistent in the quality of our beef. The best way that we have found to do that is by raising the cattle in the beef program to 1,500 pounds and dry aging it for 21 days. This consistently produces a highly marbled, flavorful and tender product that we are proud to serve to our customers. Most local beef comes from steers that have not been fed long enough to reach their full marbling potential. Once harvested, most local beef is not properly aged and frankly is a lower quality product than what can be purchased at the grocery store. Our customers demand not only that they know where their beef came from, but also a product that marbles, provides tenderness and tastes better than our competition.

Rich American Indian History

While both sides of our family can trace their roots back to American Indians, the McDonald side are members of the Chickasaw tribe. The Chickasaw side allows our beef to be labeled as Made and Produce by American Indians through the Intertribal Agricultural Council. We process all of our beef at Quapaw Food Service Authority in Miami Oklahoma. Our beef dry ages there for a minimum of 21 days and is vacuum sealed and frozen on site. All of our beef is USDA inspected, insured and temperature checked daily at our storage facility.
